R.E.

Living out our vision and through our RE teaching at Marwood, we are happy friends learning together.  We love to explore, investigate and ask big questions about life, to find out what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live.  This helps us flourish as individuals as we can make sense of world views and reflect on our own ideas and ways of living.  When we learn about others’ beliefs and values, we grow individually and together with a sensitivity and respect.  Our vision though RE teaching helps us to be the best learners we can be. We believe that small actions can lead to big changes in our Marwood community and globally.  Our bespoke RE curriculum is exciting and broad, taking learning from our village community into our neighbouring towns and cities in the UK and then out across the world.  We teach RE according to the North Yorkshire Agreed Syllabus.  As a Church of England school, Christianity is at the heart of our RE curriculum and through the Understanding Christianity resource and using an enquiry approach to widen religious literacy, we make intrinsic links with our school vision.  Our children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development is a golden thread of our RE curriculum that has a significant impact on learners.
